Last year's Annual Meetings

The 40th Annual Conference of Japan Academy of Nursing Science was held online for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of the efforts put forward by the conference chair, Dr. Mami Kayama of St Luke’s International University, and every person involved, the conference was a success with 4,518 attendees (including 579 students). The event was live streamed on December 12 and 13. On-demand streaming was available from December 1 to 25. It was reported that the page views during these dates exceeded 534,000.
The theme of the conference was "the implementation of nursing science." Accordingly, the entire program was structured to pursue dissemination and implementation science in the field of health and medical care in terms of identifying knowledge applicable to clinical and academic settings. Comments such as "advanced topics in nursing science were discussed" and "the conference clarified the direction of nursing science" indicated the success of the conference.
The questionnaire items on operations and program contents were highly evaluated, with scores of 80% or higher. The conference had advantages unique to the online setting, with comments stating: "I enjoyed being able to ask questions during the oral presentations" and "I was able to listen to many different presentations because the event was live and on-demand."
