The Japan Academy of Nursing Science has had an award system for outstanding papers since 2002. The Public Relations Committee has decided to publicize the commended papers more widely so that practicing nurses can use the excellent findings in their clinical practice and non-nurses can use the knowledge and skills of nursing as hints for their lives and daily living. That is the "Treasure Chest of Nursing Research."
Some people may think that papers are difficult to read or difficult to understand. The "Treasure Chest of Nursing Research" provides highlights of the content of the papers. The author of the papers explains the contents simply and clearly, and some treasure chests contain diagrams and photographs. In addition, for those who want to know a little more about it, there is easy access to the original paper.
What do you think you will find in the treasure chest? Please enjoy it.

Title
Is wiping or rinsing a better oral care method for intubated patients?
Key words
tracheal intubation, oral care, oral bacteria
Lead
The Rinse method (rinsing with water) and the Wipe method (wiping with gauze) are common methods of oral care . Therefore, in order to determine whether the verified results of the Rinse and Wipe methods in non-intubated patients can be applied to intubated patients, the changes in the number of oral bacteria before and after each type of care were examined. As a result, it became clear that the Wipe method may be a safe choice for oral care of intubated patients, which contributed to changing the standard oral care method in hospitals.

From the results of a questionnaire survey of 321 participants, it was clarified that the decrease in QOL of men is related to male factors, lack of support from the spouse, and length of infertility period. For infertile patients with male factors, the importance of providing programs that enhance partnerships to increase support from the spouse has been suggested.
